2 day course to be held at

Conference Aston, Aston University. Birmingham B4 7ET

2nd and 3rd March 2019

Purpose of the course
Experiential awareness of Mindfulness and its applications

Day 1
The intentions of the first day are to introduce Mindfulness and for you to learn and practice several different Mindfulness exercises and meditations, in a group setting. This will include plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.

Day 2
On Day 2 we will explore ways of introducing the practices from Day 1 into our personal lives and daily practice, and where relevant, into consulting practice. We will be discussing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is a method developed to specifically include Mindfulness into therapeutic work. We will also explore other areas of communication where the attitudes of Mindfulness are applicable. This will include: Clean Language and some quick and effective solution – orientated interventions.

Dr Mark Chambers and Jennie Thornton will be there at each session and, as well as facilitating the course, and will also be available after each day finishes to chat briefly with any participants on an individual basis.

Looking After Yourself
The practices introduced each day will involve sitting as well as occasional standing and some gentle movement. Nothing vigorous is involved. The exercises are gentle and you will only be expected to participate if you wish and only to the extent that you feel you are able. If in any doubt please consult your doctor. Mindfulness is safe for almost everyone provided that simple precautions are observed.

If you are interested in attending the course, please complete the Disclosure document and return it, via the e-mail address on this website or via the booking form, as soon as possible. We have deliberately kept the questions to a minimum and we ask you to read them please. They are a necessary formality. We will be unable to book you a place on the course without your answers, so please complete that section and return your answers to us, signed by you, as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact either of us directly.

For those of you who are curious, my day with Dr Mark Chambers and Jennie Thornton was my first ever experience in mindfulness. Dr Mark and Jennie are just inspiring, and their passion for what they teach really does shine through.
As a busy mother of 3 young children and a job as a secondary school teacher, I find my stress levels and tiredness can have an impact on my life. I rarely have time to consider my own wellbeing, and I do suffer with anxiety from time to time. The techniques I have learnt play a huge part in managing this now. And they have also given me the ability to advise others, should they need it.

A wonderful experience. A great opportunity. And invaluable life-long learning to take away with me.
